Celina Mary Pangburn arrested for staging bicycle accidents
Celina Mary Pangburn, of Azusa, was arrested this week for hitting a car with her bicycle Monday night. Police said the woman previously struck two other cars then demanded money from the drivers.
Police say she allegedly collided with the first car at 2:29 p.m. on Arrow Highway and Hollenbeck Avenue.
An officer spotted the the scene and approached. He spoke with both Celina Pangburn and the driver of the car. When the officer talked to the driver, he was told the bicyclist demanded money then left when refused.
Nearly 4 hours later that day, police were called to a similar crash involving a bicycle and a vehicle on Arrow Highway and Azusa Avenue.
The driver in the second crash identified Celina Mary Pangburn, 18, and placed her under citizen's arrest on suspicion of misdemeanor hit-and-run.
Pangburn was booked at Covina jail and later released on her own recognizance.
